Hastelloy X Alloy Grade

Nickel Alloy X, Hastelloy® X

Also sold as Nickel Alloy X, Hastelloy® X is a popular and effective nickel-chromium-iron-molybdenum alloy. Nickel Alloy X and Hastelloy X offer users a wide range of principal features. These include:

 

  • High degree of oxidation resistance up to 2200° F

  • Outstanding high-temperature strength

  • Easily fabricated including forming and welding

  • Good ductility after prolonged exposure at high-temperatures

  • Good resistance to chloride stress-corrosion cracking

  • Resistant to carburization and nitriding

  • Develops a protective oxide film that does not spall off

 

Because of its outstanding capabilities, Nickel Alloy X and Hastelloy X are in use throughout the aircraft, furnace, petrochemical, and chemical processing industries. Some of the more popular applications include:

 

  • Gas turbine engines

  • Transition ducts

  • Combustor cans

  • Spray bars and flame holders

  • Afterburners, tailpipes, and cabin heaters

  • Chemical processing retorts, muffles, and tubing

 

To be considered Nickel Alloy X or Hastelloy X, an alloy must meet certain levels of chemical composition including:

  • Cr 20.5-23%

  • Fe 17-20%

  • Mo 8-10%

  • Mn 1% max

  • Si 1% max

  • C .05-.15%

  • Ni bal
