Nickel Alloy 22, Hastelloy®C-22, Inconel® 22
Alloy 22 is a completely austenitic nickel-based super alloy that is also available under the brand names Hastelloy® C-22 and Inconel® 22. Both of these brand names refer to the same material. Alloy 22 provides resistance against corrosion, pitting, crevice corrosion, intergranular assaults, and stress corrosion cracking, just like many other super-alloys do. Users benefit from its high ductility, which makes cold forming easier. Additionally, it is resistant to the corrosion caused by aqueous solutions even when the temperature is high.

Alloy 22 is used in a wide variety of applications involving saltwater, including desulfurization of flue gas and reprocessing of nuclear fuel.
In order for an alloy to be given the name Alloy 22, it must include a satisfactory proportion of nickel in addition to the other elements:
-
Cr 20-22.5%
-
Mo 12.5-14.5
-
Co 2.5% Max
-
W 2.5-3.5%
-
Fe 2-6%
The various forms that alloy 22 can take include flat bar, forging stock, hexagon, plate, round bar, strip, and wire. The ASTM, ASME, ISO, and DIN families of standards are among those that are complied with or exceeded by the many variants of Alloy 22 that are available. Standard techniques can be utilized in the production of Alloy 22, however the optimal temperatures for forging take place between 1750 and 2050 degrees Fahrenheit, and annealing takes place between 2020 and 2150 degrees Fahrenheit. Welding Alloy 22 can be done using a gas tungsten arc, a shield metal arc, or a gas metal arc. Alloy 22 is a super alloy that is both very cost-effective and a good choice for a wide variety of applications that call for exceptional performance.
