Duplex stainless steels should be hot worked at temperatures between (1875-2050)ºF. It is then solution annealed at a temperature not lower than 1880ºF and rapidly air or water quenched.
According to Baosteel's research on the thermal deformation behavior of this steel, the thermal processing temperature that can be selected for duplex stainless steel in actual industrial production is (1000-1200) °C. However, domestic research has found that when the steel is heated below 1040°C, the σ phase is easily formed in the steel, so the temperature during hot working should be greater than 1040°C.
If necessary, duplex stainless steel can be subjected to solution treatment after thermal processing and forming, and the generally selected temperature is 1050-1100 °C.
