The Selection and Classification of Stainless Steel Reducers
Stainless steel reducers are tools used to connect pipes of different sizes. Stainless steel reducers can be classified into eccentric stainless steel reducers and concentric stainless steel reducers based on their centerlines. When setting up stainless steel reducers, if the projections of both ends are concentric circles, it is called a concentric stainless steel reducer. An eccentric stainless steel reducer, on the other hand, is so named because its two centers do not coincide but are on the same straight line. These two different types of stainless steel reducers are suitable for different applications.
Concentric stainless steel reducers are used on vertical pipes, while eccentric stainless steel reducers are used on horizontal pipes. When using stainless steel reducers, flow requirements are not too strict, particularly when dealing with changes in the fluid flow within the pipeline. In the installation of pump inlet reducers, for example, eccentric stainless steel reducers are used to prevent cavitation due to gas accumulation at the reducer during installation, preventing errors in the process. Therefore, when reducing the diameter of the horizontal inlet pipe of a pump, eccentric stainless steel reducers are used to ensure proper coordination with control valves, flow meters, and other instruments. When the pipeline flows from top to bottom into the pump, a bottom flat stainless steel reducer is chosen.
Stainless steel reducers are widely used in various industries, including natural gas, hydropower, construction, petroleum, boilers, etc. The shaping process for welding reducers used in pipeline systems is quite complex and involves welding based on different materials and applications, casting and molding under certain pressure.
The materials used for stainless steel reducers can be divided into stainless steel reducers and alloy steel reducers. The steel materials used for stainless steel reducers include 20# steel, Q234, Q345, etc.
In the case of stainless steel reducers, eccentric stainless steel reducers are primarily used as connecting fittings at the pipe's reducing section. Eccentric stainless steel reducers are generally manufactured using a shrinkage forming process, or they can be fabricated through the swaging process. The stamping method can also be used for specific stainless steel reducer specifications. Eccentric stainless steel reducers not only allow for the production of stainless steel pipes with different diameters using steel pipes as raw materials but also enable the compression of stainless steel pipes with different diameters using steel plates. The shape of the punch die is designed based on the inner surface dimensions of the stainless steel reducer, and it is used to punch steel plates and stretch them.
Stainless steel reducers can also be classified based on the smelting process into electric furnace steel, converter steel, and open-hearth steel. Based on the deoxidation process, they can be further classified into special killed steel, boiling steel, semi-killed steel, and killed steel. In general, the carbon content of stainless steel pipes largely determines their mechanical properties. In most cases, stainless steel pipes without significant alloying elements are referred to as carbon steel or plain steel.
