Stainless Steel Alloy 301, UNS S30100
Type 301 Stainless Steel, also known as UNS S30100, is a well-known austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel that is corrosion resistant. Similar to Type 304, Type 301 has less chromium and nickel, expanding its cold work-hardening range.
Type 301 is easily formable and drawable, and has excellent weldability. It is employed in numerous applications and industries, including:
Aviation parts
Bodies for trucks and trailers
Cooking implements and tableware
Architectural (trim, drainage products, storm door frames) (trim, drainage products, storm door frames)
Automotive (trim, wheel, covers) (trim, wheel, covers)
Conveyor Belts
Domestic and commercial appliances
Mass transit networks
To qualify as Type 301, a stainless steel must have the following chemical composition:
Cr 16-18%
Ni 6-8%
C 0.15% max
Mn 2% max
Si .75% max
P 0.40% max
S .030% max
Minimum tensile and yield strengths for Type 301 Stainless Steel are 185,000 PSI and 140,000 PSI, respectively. The Type 301 stainless steel we provide meets or surpasses the most stringent industrial standards.
