Modification of pipe bending molds and the storage and installation of bent pipes

When it comes to the modification of pipe bending molds and the storage and installation of bent pipes, there are several key considerations to keep in mind:

1. Pipe Bending Process:

The pipe bending process involves placing an induction coil around a steel pipe, clamping the pipe head with a mechanical rotating arm, and heating the steel pipe using medium-frequency electric current within the induction coil. As the steel pipe reaches its plastic state due to the increasing temperature, it is pushed forward by mechanical thrust at the rear end of the pipe, forming the bent pipe. During this process, cooling agents are used to rapidly cool and shape the bent pipe components.

2. Benefits of Bent Pipes:

Bent pipes have proven to be highly effective in current production processes. They not only provide well-prepared materials for pipe fittings but also play an irreplaceable role in cost savings.

3. Applications of Bent Pipes:

Bent pipes find extensive applications in various industries, including chemical, power, and energy engineering, as our society continues to develop.

4. Modification of Pipe Bending Molds:

To reduce costs, pipe bending molds are often modified to produce different shapes and sizes of bent pipes. When modifying pipe bending molds, it's essential to consider the following:

- Clamping Section: The clamping section of the mold should not be too short to avoid causing deformation of the steel pipe. A clamping length of around 20mm is recommended.

- Soft and Thin Sections: For soft and thin sections of the pipe, the clamping part should pass through a core rod to prevent deformation.

- Clamping Force: The clamping force can be adjusted based on the pipe diameter and wall thickness.

- Gap Between V-shaped Clamps: Depending on the pipe diameter, there may be a gap between the V-shaped clamps when clamping. This gap is related to the pipe's diameter and does not affect clamping and processing.

- Replacement of Clamps: Pipes with a diameter greater than φ18 mm may require the replacement of V-shaped clamps, wheel molds, and guide molds. If using R-shaped clamps, the gap between clamps and wheel molds remains the same.

These modifications can lead to significant cost savings and reduced production time.

5. Storage of Bent Pipes:

Bent pipes stored for an extended period should undergo regular inspections. Pipes exposed to the ground should be kept clean and stored indoors in a well-ventilated, dry area, away from outdoor exposure or stacking. It is crucial to maintain dry and clean conditions for the pipes and follow proper storage procedures.

6. Installation of Bent Pipes:

When installing welded pipe fittings, they can be connected directly to the pipeline, depending on the intended location. Generally, bent pipes can be installed in various positions in the pipeline, but ease of inspection is essential. It is crucial to ensure that the flow of the medium is in the upward direction from the downstream valve, and bent pipes should be installed horizontally. Pay close attention to sealing to prevent leakage, which could disrupt the normal operation of the pipeline.
