Nickel Alloy 20, Carpenter® 20, Incoloy® 20
An austenitic alloy consisting of nickel, iron, and chromium, Alloy 20 also goes by the names Carpenter® 20 and Incoloy® 20. This super alloy, which also contains copper and molybdenum, is frequently used in the manufacturing of fuel, solvents, explosives, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food, and synthetic materials. It is also used in several aerospace applications. Users can take use of a wide range of benefits, including the following:
Excellent resistance to corrosion, crevice corrosion, and pitting.
For use in environments where sulfuric, phosphoric, and nitric acids are present.
The ability to be easily fabricated while maintaining high mechanical qualities.
Alloy 20, which can be formed into the following products, is available in the following forms: flat bar, forging stock, hexagon, plate, pipe, sheet, strip, round bar, tube, and wire.
Mixing Tanks
Heat Exchangers
Process Piping
Pickling Equipment
Pumps, valves, fasteners, and fittings
Multiple industry standards, such as those established by ASTM, ASME, ISO, and DIN, are among those that Alloy 20 either satisfies or surpasses. Alloy 20 is capable of being welded with TIG, MIG, and SAW, and it can be shaped through hot and cold working processes.
Alloy 20 has a unique chemical composition:
Fe 31-44% balance
Ni 32.5-35%
Cr 19-21%
Cu 3-4%
Mo 2-3%
There is some debate regarding whether or not Alloy 20 is an alloy made of nickel or stainless steel due to the high percentage of nickel (32-38%) that it contains. Regardless of whatever side of the debate you find yourself on, it cannot be denied that Alloy 20 is an outstanding option for a wide range of different businesses and applications. We are pleased to announce that here at Continental Steel, we have in stock and offer for sale Nickel Alloy 20, Carpenter® 20, and Incoloy® 20 in any and all popular dimensions and configurations.
