Iron-nickel alloy is a low-frequency soft magnetic material with high permeability and low coercivity in weak magnetic fields. The early iron-nickel alloy was used for telephone communication, and then a heat treatment process and vacuum smelting method were used to greatly improve the properties of the alloy. The magnetic permeability of iron-nickel alloy containing 78% Ni is about 10 to 20 times higher than that of silicon steel in weak magnetic field, and is widely used in sensitive relays, magnetic shielding, telephone and radio transformers, precision AC and DC instruments, and current transformers (see transformers). Adding molybdenum, manganese, cobalt, copper, chromium and other elements to the iron-nickel alloy can obtain ternary and quaternary iron-nickel alloys with larger initial permeability μi and maximum permeability μm.
The so-called iron-nickel alloy, as the name suggests, one of its main components is nickel. Generally, the nickel content of iron-nickel alloy is in the range of 30%-90%. The performance advantage of iron-nickel alloys is high magnetic permeability, especially in weak and medium magnetic fields. In addition, due to the addition of precious metal nickel, the iron-nickel alloy has a very small coercivity and very good processing performance. Compared with other alloys, it has better rust resistance. In addition, iron-nickel alloys can obtain very good magnetic properties if they are specially processed. However, this alloy also has a disadvantage, that is, the production cost is too high. Due to the inclusion of elements such as nickel and cobalt, the price of such alloys is generally high, and the thinner the material, the more expensive the price.
