Stainless Steel Alloy 254
Alloy 254, also known as Sandvik 254 SMO and UNS S31254, is a super austenitic stainless steel that is renowned for its exceptional resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, fatigue corrosion, and stress cracking. The precise chemical composition of Alloy 254, which includes the following elements, contributes to these exceptional capabilities.
Fe (remainder) (remainder)
Cr 19.5-20.5%
Ni 17.5-18.5%
Mo 6-6.5%
Mn 1.0% max
Si 0.8% max
P 0.03% max
C 0.02% max
Due to its high chromium, nitrogen, and molybdenum content, Alloy 254 is stronger than the majority of austenitic stainless steels and approximately twice as strong as 300 series stainless steel. It is ideal for usage in a variety of applications, including:
Chemical synthesis
Applications of saltwater such as shipbuilding, marine products, and desalination
Gas and oil
Power generation
Paper and Pulp
