Applications and Classifications of Pipe Fittings, and Utilization Measures and Precautions for Stainless Steel Elbows:
Applications and Classifications of Pipe Fittings:
High-pressure pipe fittings are suitable for special environments such as high-pressure steam equipment, high-temperature and high-pressure chemical pipelines, pressure vessels in power plants and nuclear power stations, and high-pressure boiler accessories. Pipe fittings are a collective term for components that play a role in connecting, controlling, changing direction, guiding, sealing, and supporting in a piping system.
Classification of Pipe Fittings by Usage:
1. Pipe Fittings for Pipe Connections: These include flanges, couplings, clamps, and sleeves.
2. Pipe Fittings for Changing Pipe Direction: Elbows
3. Pipe Fittings for Changing Pipe Diameter: Reducers (eccentric and concentric) and elbow reducers
4. Pipe Fittings for Adding Branches to Pipelines: Tees and cross fittings
5. Pipe Fittings for Pipeline Sealing: Gaskets, tape seals, thread sealant, blind flanges, and pipe plugs
6. Pipe Fittings for Pipe Support: Clamps, hooks, hangers, brackets, and pipe clips
Based on the connection methods, pipe fittings can be classified into four categories: socket fittings, threaded fittings, flanged fittings, and welded fittings.
Utilization Measures and Precautions for Stainless Steel Elbows:
There are several factors to consider in the utilization measures and precautions for stainless steel elbows:
1. Stored stainless steel elbows that have been in storage for an extended period should be inspected as per the plan. They should be kept clean, and any exposed surfaces should be free of dirt. They should be stored neatly in well-ventilated indoor locations, avoiding stacking or open-air storage. Maintain the dryness and ventilation of stainless steel elbows and keep the equipment clean, storing them according to the correct storage methods.
2. During equipment use, stainless steel elbows can be directly installed on the pipeline according to the connection method, and the equipment can be placed according to its usage location. In general, they can be placed at any point in the pipeline, but ease of operation should be considered. It is essential to ensure that the flow medium is cut off below the vertical valve and flows upward, while stainless steel elbows can only be horizontal devices. Sealing should be maintained inside the equipment's stainless steel elbows to prevent significant leakage that might affect normal pipeline operation.
3. For stainless steel elbow ball valves, globe valves, and gate valves, they should only be opened or closed and not used to adjust the flow rate. This is to prevent corrosion of the sealing surface and accelerated wear. Gate valves and upper threaded globe valves come with backseats and top-fixed handwheels to prevent leakage of filling point media.
4. Stainless steel elbows are operated using handwheels. Levers or other tools should not be used to avoid damaging valve components. Rotate the handwheel clockwise to close and counterclockwise to open.
5. The bolts on the gland of stainless steel elbow valves should be evenly tightened, without over-tightening in a bent state, to avoid contact or interference with the movement of the valve stem or causing leaks.
6. Stainless steel elbows should be kept clean during use, and the drive threads must be operated smoothly as planned. If a fault is discovered, usage should be stopped immediately, and the cause of the fault should be identified.
